UmPhafa supports a diverse range of wildlife species; some of which have been released onto the reserve and others have migrated on to the reserve naturally. In 2015, we conducted a game count by helicopter to get a more reliable overview of numbers of the more visible species on the reserve. Numbers of waterbuck and blesbok are particularly looking healthy and the aerial game count provides a more reliable indicator of numbers of more elusive antelope species, such as kudu.

In 2015, we completed the purchase of an additional farm, called Mount Sully, which also contained a population of game species, particularly blue wildebeest which explains why the numbers of this species have increased so much!
